Floors are often overlooked areas for display. They are effectively horizontal display zones, but, with the added bonus of being able to feel the warmth of wool underfoot.
I’m currently developing this area of my weaving and often use both twill and tapestry techniques to create both strength and unusual woven rugs. The rug below is a pattern from the song of the wren which I recorded and digitally enhanced on creative visual software. It’s woven using strong linen for the warp and wool on the weft. I hand-ply my wool to create thicker and more colourful yarns.
