My handwoven fabric is inspired and designed from many sources both visual and aural. The changing seasons have different atmospheric outcomes creating ever-changing views of the machair, sea, shores and skies.
The migratory patterns of the birds bring wonderful opportunities for recording their rare songs and often unseen presence. Capturing their song and converting these into weaving patterns is an important element of my creative practice.
I often mix weaving techniques using the looms’ capabilities to experiment with both warp and weft.
